Our Pastor


Reverend E. Maurice Boger serves as the Pastor of Saint Paul UMC and St. Elizabeth UMC in Meridian, Mississippi, and is completing a Masters of Divinity at Gammon Theological Seminary at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  Concentrating in Ethics, he has been the recipient of several academic awards and honors, most notably the Bishop L. Scott Allen Scholar award, President-Dean Award, Student Representative to the Board of Trustees, and the President of the Gammon Student Fellowship. Originally from South Central Los Angeles, California, Boger is a graduate of Morehouse College, in Atlanta, Georgia, where he was a Martin Luther King Jr. Chapel Assistant and Student campus tour guide.

In ministry, he has served pastoral appointments in both the North Georgia and North Alabama Conferences of the United Methodist Church.  Additionally, Boger was appointed to leadership roles in each conference such as the Board of the Wesley Foundation at Clayton State University (North Georgia), and Conference Religion and Race Team (North Alabama). This Saint Paul UMC was recognized as the ‘Vital Church of the Year’ for the Meridian District of the Mississippi Conference and received the ‘One Matters’ Discipleship Award from Discipleship Ministries of the United Methodist Church.

Boger is actively involved in several professional and civic organizations, such as the Critical Race Studies in Education Assoc (CRSE), American Academy of Religion (AAR), Black Methodist for Church Renewal (BMCR), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Meridian, Secretary of the Meridian/Lauderdale Branch NAACP, Board Member of the Wechsler Foundation, Board Member of the Greater Meridian Health Clinic, Institutional Review Board at Anderson Hospital in Meridian, MS, and on the Advisory Board of ‘By Faith Magazine’– which highlights ministry of Black United Methodist.

Rev. Boger is the proud father of two young adult children. His son Amari Eugene is a Junior at Shaw University in Raleigh, NC, and daughter Erynn Morgan is a Senior at Druid Hills High School in Atlanta, GA.
